What are we talking about today?

I'll get back to theme days once I find a groove of posting regularly. In the meantime, most of my posts are about some variation of books, bikes, buses, or Broadway. Plus bits about writing, nonprofits, and grief from time to time.

This blog is mostly lighthearted and pretty silly. It's not about the terrible things happening in the world, but please know that I'm not ignoring those things. I just generally don't write about them here.

Meet Megan

As part of my 700th post giveaway, the winner and the runner-up both agreed to an interview similar to the one employed by James Lipton at the end of Inside the Actors Studio.

I learned how to make a screenshot
just for this post!

Megan Bickel, the winner (whose guest post is coming on Saturday, by the way; stay tuned!) is writer of The Write-At-Home-Mom and my fellow Hoosier. :) I've only "met" Megan on the internet, but I am so glad that I did, because her blog is such a delight to read! Her interview brought me all kinds of smiles, and I hope it will do the same for you:

1.    What is your favorite word?
Mom, when it comes at the end of a sentence.  As in: "Good night, Mom" or "Happy Mother's Day, Mom" or "I love you, Mom."

2.    What is your least favorite word?
Mom, when it comes at the beginning of a sentence.  As in: "Mom, he hit me!" or "Mom, can you get me a snack?" or "Mom, make him play it my way!"

3.    What thing(s) make you the happiest?
Family, home, sunflowers, fall, museums, the Indy 500, picture books, and about 10 million other things

4.    What thing(s) make you unhappy?
I'm going to go with money.  I don't like all the worry and drama that comes with having it or not having it or needing it or others needing it.  And Colts losses.  Those make me grumpy.

5.    What sound or noise do you love?
I love middle of the night noises.  My husband's snore, the fan blowing, and all of my kids sometimes make this little clicking kind of noise when they sleep because their little mouths still make the "sucking on a bottle" motion.

6.    What sound or noise do you hate?
People chewing food!  Yuck, yuck, yuckity, yuck!  If you are around me and eating, you better have your mouth closed when you chew.  And preferably some background music.  Like Metallica.

7.    What is your favorite comfort food?
Cookies.  Chocolate chip cookies are best.

8.    What profession other than your own would you like to attempt?
Oh, this one is easy!  Writer.  I would love to be able to just write for children for a living.

9.    What profession would you not like to do?
I’d have to go with anything in the food service industry.  Through my numerous jobs, I’ve discovered people can be really grumpy and rude about their food.  Give bigger tips, everyone!

10. What would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the Pearly Gates?
"Good job, sweetheart!  The library and museum are on the left and the bugless-critterless beach is on the right."  And then I'm giving God the biggest 'thank you' hug in history.

Thank you, Megan! I'm so glad you participated in the giveaway, the interview, and the soon-to-be revealed guest post. Coming tomorrow: The Songstress.

She does sound lovely! :) Colts losses make me grumpy, too.

And I'm going to be right behind you heading into heaven's library. :D

That was totally awesome! Family and kids are just a wonderful and important part of life. I like how she incorporated that into everything!

Great interview Su - we get to know Meg a bit better, that she's a terrific mother, and doesn't like money issues. Her's is a lucky family

I enjoyed the interview. I'm sure hoping there's a library in heaven, because I'm going to want to spend a lot of time there. Do you think God will still make you be very quiet, so as not to disturb anyone else?

@LadyJai: I like that, too. #s 1&2 have had me giggling all week!

@Grandpa: I had to change a couple of questions from the original that I got from Inside the Actors Studio, but it really is a fun slate of interview questions.

@Petty: Thank you!

@Mary: An excellent question. I vote "yes". (Do you think God will be taking a vote on the library rules?)
