What are we talking about today?

I'll get back to theme days once I find a groove of posting regularly. In the meantime, most of my posts are about some variation of books, bikes, buses, or Broadway. Plus bits about writing, nonprofits, and grief from time to time.

This blog is mostly lighthearted and pretty silly. It's not about the terrible things happening in the world, but please know that I'm not ignoring those things. I just generally don't write about them here.

It's Valentine's Day!

... which means that excuse to eat chocolate that you've been waiting for since Christmas has finally arrived! Enjoy-- with someone else, if you like.

I'm participating in the Show Me the Love Blogfest, hosted by Stephanie, but before I give you my answers I'm going to show a little love to Mia, one of the most entertaining bloggers on the whole planet (seriously, if you aren't reading her blog, then there is not enough fun in your life), and spread the word about her giveaway. Click on the link and fill out the form by 12 PM GMT on Thursday (that's 6 AM CST, for the time-zone-phobics) to be entered to win books! And drawings! And other fun stuff! Or, don't click and make my odds of winning better. Actually, I'd prefer you do the second one. ;)

And now, my answers to the Show Me the Love Blogfest:

1- What is the most romantic thing anyone has ever done for you?
It really is a very cute bear.
Chad and I had only gone on one date when he went out of town for a week (without telling me he was going, btw; I spent a week wondering why he didn't return any of my calls). He came back with a bear, and explained that he saw it in the store, thought it was really cute, and decided that he would keep it until he found the girl he wanted to marry. I knew then that the bear was going to be mine. :)

2- What is your favorite love song?
"All I Ask of You", from Phantom of the Opera. I know, it's unusual, but Chad loves it, too, so sometimes we sing it together.

3- Do you have a favorite romantic movie or book?

Notting Hill. Unfortunately, my husband does not love this movie as much as I, but he'll still watch it with me from time to time. And he does recognize it when I quote from it, so it's all good.

4- Do you have any romantic plans for Valentine's Day this year?

Homework. Sigh.

5- What's your favorite romantic treat? (candy, chocolate, edible body paint, etc...)

Chocolate-covered strawberries. Chad keeps promising to bring home body paint one of these days, though...

Surely every day is an excuse to eat chocolate.

Such a sweet bear, much more romantic than any body paints and a lot less messy.

Hi! Happy Valentine's Day!

I LOVE Notting Hill. Woopsie Daisies!

Seriously, that bear thing is adorable. When did he finally give it to you?

Su said...

@Nancy: Wow, thanks!

@Beth: Right back at ya.

@Summer: One of my instructors said that Valentine's day is no excuse for not getting homework done. :(

@Francine: It is sweet! He's helping me "read" my comments right now. :)

@Petty: That's a very good point. Two good points actually! :)

@Kari: When he proposed, about four months later.

man you made a great first impression if after one date he bought that bear. Well done!

@Stephanie: It was fun-- thanks for hosting!

@Charlie: Guess so. ;) We had already know each other for a while, though, so it's not like we had only just met.

From now on, I will refer to Valentine's Day as the "excuse to eat chocolate that I've been waiting for since Christmas" (...not that I really need one :))

Su said...

@The Eagle: Thanks! If we don't have children soon, we may start to refer to it as our firstborn. :)

@Michelle: Isn't it? And so many great one-liners, too.

@Jolene: I still think it's worth waiting one more day for the Easter chocolate, though; much better quality, imo! ;)

The Phantom holds a special place in my heart!

Isn't is brilliant? I love Music of the Night, too, so I had a hard time choosing between the two for the post... it came down to the one that Chad & I can both sing. :)

Your bear was the first image in Google images for Valentine's Day today. At least for me! :)
