What are we talking about today?

I'll get back to theme days once I find a groove of posting regularly. In the meantime, most of my posts are about some variation of books, bikes, buses, or Broadway. Plus bits about writing, nonprofits, and grief from time to time.

This blog is mostly lighthearted and pretty silly. It's not about the terrible things happening in the world, but please know that I'm not ignoring those things. I just generally don't write about them here.

Nefarious Plot

Our UT NaNoWriMo group had a plotting party tonight, with lots of people in attendance. Yay! Not much plotting was done, I'm afraid, but we did have a good time talking about our novels and deciding on write-ins. And finding out what sort of things we have in common.

I may be the only one of the group not writing a fantasy novel. (I'm writing a school story.)

Are you a Wrimo? Let's be friends! (Once the Writing Buddies are activated, that is. Using the word 'activated' makes me feel like we are writing Power Rangers. Ooh, maybe we are. Get your Zords!) I'm cheekysu, the one from Austin. Chad was kind enough to find another cheekysu on the NaNo site the other day, so I know there are at least two of us.

Not a Wrimo? Well, okay, but most of what I post for the next month probably isn't going to make a lot of sense.

Okay, well, I already asked one question. How about: What is your genre? Favourite writing music? Will you bring me a cookie?

I'm bookworm0753 on the NaNoWriMo site.

I'm actually planning to write two novels for NaNo this year. The first will be YA Contemporary and the second is YA Futuristic Fantasy. I do admit I enjoy writing fantasy, but other genres are fun too. :)

Whoa! How on earth are you going to manage two? I have a hard enough time with one!!

I was telling people that this will be my sixth NaNo, but then I realized it's my EIGHTH. That's a lot of badly written novels!

1. I am an essayist, so I won't be writing a novel.
2. My favorite writing music is Korn.
3. At some point in your furious writing fest, I will bring you a cookie to get you over whatever ledge you are perched on.

I'm not doing NaNo. It would be way too stressful.

As for the other questions: I write fantasy/sci fi (depending on the story). I must write in silence (music distracts me). Next time I bake, I'll bring you a chocolate chip.

Oh, I left you a meme on my blog: http://lawsofgravity.blogspot.com/2011/10/another-meme.html

@Karen: Eight? Wow! I don't think I'd even heard of NaNo 8 years ago!

@Carolyn: Heh, I'm also an essayist. This will be a very strange novel. And the cookie will be eagerly awaited and much appreciated. :)

@Liz: Sigh, I'm beginning to arrive at that conclusion, too. I swing between music/silence. And yay, chocolate chips!

Very true. I may need a straight jacket.

I'll go look for you on NaNoWriMo. You'll find me there as wekemash. And I guess I should make some new friends there since right now I'm a total loner. :)
