What are we talking about today?

I'll get back to theme days once I find a groove of posting regularly. In the meantime, most of my posts are about some variation of books, bikes, buses, or Broadway. Plus bits about writing, nonprofits, and grief from time to time.

This blog is mostly lighthearted and pretty silly. It's not about the terrible things happening in the world, but please know that I'm not ignoring those things. I just generally don't write about them here.

Holiday Reading Challenge

It's that time of year again; the time when I think to myself, "Geez, why can't I ever think of a good idea?"

Bookwormy Girl is having a holiday reading challenge at her blog. I'm planning to spend the whole of my Christmas holidays reading and writing anyway (there may also be some cookie eating and hot cocoa drinking involved), so I decided to join in. If you want to get in on the action, too, the contest is after the jump.

I don't even like pink, and I think this is about the prettiest contest badge I've ever seen. :) Here's the challenge, direct from Bookwormy Girl's blog:

All About {n}

1- Challenge will start Monday, November 15 and will end Friday, December 31. (Cheeky note: Yes, I'm late getting this post up. Sorry.)

2- You can read anywhere from 1 to 5 books for the challenge and, of course, if you're like me, you are more than welcome to surpass that number.

3- And now, here's the clincher... they must be holiday related books. That's right, the holiday doesn't really matter, but it would be more "jolly" if your choices were Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, etc.

4- The size of the book does not matter, nor does the genre. It is also okay for the book to overlap with other challenges. The only thing I ask is that they are not children's books. YA is okay. And so are re-reads. I for one tend to read the same books every Christmas - they are tradition.

5- To sign up - leave a link back to your challenge post. There will also be a post for review links as well as one for challenge wrap-ups.

6- And.... there will be goodies. That's right, we'll call them presents. At the end of every week that the challenge is running I will choose one winner from the review links.  Meaning the more books you read, review and link up, the more chances you have at winning a "present".

(To sign up, click here to see the original post. I love this season-- this challenge will make it even more fun! And adding cocoa and cookies will make it funner still. Are you playing? What do you usually read/write/drink/eat for the holiday season?)

Su, you'll want to check my status on your hubby's facebook :) I'm passing on a holiday book that I'm reading this week. I know you're taking a facebook break, but it's really easy...just tell him to "like" my status :)

What a great idea, and I would love to, but I have my hands full with the seven books I need to finish before the year is out. Good luck to everyone!

@Meredith: Isn't it? Hence the "I can't ever think of something good" despair. ;)
@Jenni: Hey, his computer is right here & he isn't home. I'm on it. :)
@Mary: My list of books to read keeps getting longer-- I may get less sleep during Christmas than I do during the holidays.

I am totally looking forward to writing them! But they'll have to wait until the semester ends. :(
