What are we talking about today?

I'll get back to theme days once I find a groove of posting regularly. In the meantime, most of my posts are about some variation of books, bikes, buses, or Broadway. Plus bits about writing, nonprofits, and grief from time to time.

This blog is mostly lighthearted and pretty silly. It's not about the terrible things happening in the world, but please know that I'm not ignoring those things. I just generally don't write about them here.

I'll Just Jump on the Bandwagon...

If they were this easy
to read, I wouldn't mind.
... and denounce Captchas. As if the old word verifications weren't bad enough, now we have to type in two words? And only one of them is a real word? And the second one has that *clever* colour-changing blur halfway through?

No. I'm done. I'm aware that some people have a spam problem, but I'm also aware that the spam filter on Blogger works great. (So great, in fact, that I have another spam-filter-inspired post coming.) And I'm definitely aware of chatter on the blogosphere that word verifications make you look either 1. paranoid or 2. like a noob.

So, to spare my own sanity, from here on out captchas get one attempt. And if I can't get it right the first time, I will go on my way having done my best.

Do you use captchas? Do you think they're necessary? Or are they driving you crazy, too?

I just don't have the mental capacity to figure out what I'm seeing.

Thank you for commenting on my blog. I'm glad I'm not the only one with issues on this. It seems like there are a lot of people up in arms about it.

I'm not a fan of captchas. Usually I don't care if I have to do one, but it's irritating when it keeps telling you you haven't input the right letters when you can't read them because of the blurriness of the words. I've given up on commenting at times due to the annoyance factor. So definitely put me in the "crazy" group.

@Clarissa: Yep!

@JE: I just don't have that far to go to crazy, you know?

I guarantee no one has had a worse spam problem than me (though I acknowledge that some may have had it just as bad) and I absolutely refuse to use captchas. Why should I make it inconvenient for people to comment on my blog?

Down with the captchas!!!
