Luke
From a Greek word meaning "from Luciana", which is a region in Italy, or possibly from the Latin word lux, meaning "light". Currently the 41st most popular name for boys in the U.S., which is as high as it's ever been (it was also 41st in 2004-2005).
Famous Lukes: Saint Luke, Luke Perry, Luke Wilson

My Lukes: So there's a Luke in my WIP. He's a jerk. My main character goes on a raging, screaming, swearing fit at him at one point. Right now, he's such a stereotype of a jerky teenage boy that I might as well have called Central Casting, but the plan is to make him less plastic, more believable. Eventually.
Are you a Luke? Do you know a Luke? Are you using the Force to read this blog post?

I know the character Luke Danes from the television series Gilmore Girls. I regrettably forgot to mention him in my L blog today.
You gotta love Luke Duke. Any name that rhymes is a winner.
Luke Bushwacker of Luke and Butch from the days of WWF. Luc Deveraux from the B Action series Universal Soldier. And I'm pretty sure that was the name of a kid in 8th grade who I still wonder how he turned out. ;)
When my sister and I were cool and childless we had a neighbor named Luke who would walk his rottweiler in Logan square and frequent the cafe at which we worked. He was a beautiful guy who drove an old landcruiser and could roller blade over garbage cans and pop a wheelie on his motorcycle. Later he moved to Alaska and we never heard from him again.
But we both decided that Luke was a name for dudes.
What a fun post! I know a Luke - he once told me that he was supposed to be named Abraham. Then his mother found out she was having twins, and so she named them Luke and Dan. Not sure why she nixed Abraham! Always thought that was a funny story.
Happy A to Z-ing!
I have a character named Luc. He's a guard at the palace and has a secret crush on the Princess.
love Jean-Luc :)
...now you come to mention it, I know of no 'Luke's, not even amongst the congregation at church, where you might expect to find people with Biblical names!
Maybe I'd best go and look out for a 'Luke'!
Just dropping by, on the blog-hop - happy A-Z'ing!
